Monuments of Alaior

Alaior possesses above all an extraordinary archaeological wealth, of which the following sites are worth mentioning: Torralba d'en Salort (with the most magnificent taula in Menorca), Cales Coves (necropolis with more than a hundred funerary caves), the talayotic settlement of Sa Torre d'en Gaumés (the most extensive on the island), as well as Na Cassana and the paleochristian basilica of Son Bou. Regarding urban monuments, the following stand out: the church of Santa Eulàlia (rebuilt in the 17th century, of Baroque inspiration), the Town Hall (civil building of the 17th century), the church of San Diego (with the patio of Sa Lluna), the rural hermitage of Sant Llorenç de Binixems (to the north of the municipality, rebuilt at the end of the 19th century) and, as an expression of civil architecture representative of old wealthy families, Can Salort, today municipal property. Also of ethnological interest are the mills that surround the town: D'en John, D'en Pujol, etc... Or the well heads that are still maintained within the urban layout.
